Can anyone tell me how I can re-install software for an IRB6400-M94A?? My controller lost everything due to power loss and bad batteries. I have several discs for this robot: (4) Basic 2.0 Discs, (3) Boot Discs, (2) Elmo Siemens Discs, (1) Advanced Functions Disc. If someone could go into detail so I could create a step by step instruction booklet for my technicians I would greatly appreciate it.

What order do I use these? (Some people are telling me I do not need to install the 4 Basic Discs, but just the others.)

I am using a 7th external axis...does this mean I need to select Service Motion rather than Standard Motion when installing?

Hi Kenny:

Sorry Kenny about the loss.  Few months ago I did exactly the oppositte, I uninstall the 7th axis but the procedure will be very similar.
I took some notes while I was doing it. Here they are:

Remember, these are only my notes and not the robt manual

1 Do a Cold Start      Select service window
                                 Select File: Restart
                                 enter 1 3 4 6 7 9
the 5th function key turns to C-start, press it

2 The screen show Load/Read Txxxxx

3 Welcome ...........

4 Asked for key disk.  Follow instructions

5 Asked for disk 1 and at 21%
asked for disk 2 and at 62%
asked for disk 3 and at 99% shows OK

6 Query all prompts and you see the controller loading
      Standard motion parameters
      Install Rapid
      Install Ramdisk files

7 Asked for disk 4
    language     1, english

8 Asked for disk 6
Select dc-link    only option was DC3
Select IRB type      only option was 6400
    Install Factory ware comm           yes

9 Asked for disk 8
    Advanced functions      YES
    Install io plus            YES
Select bus            CAN    IBS   I selected CAN
Any option disk to install         NO

and I guess at this time is when you install your 7th

I hope this helps you or guide you (at least you have an idea on what you're expecting )

Kenny, i think you should select the standard motion parameters. Service parameters are used by experts of ABB

Kenny,
Before you start, ABB recommends you make a copy of your disks.  Never use the originals!! Take a second look at your disks.  In my experience, Basic M94A and Basic CommWare M94A comes with 4 operating system disks while Basic 2.0 and Basic CommWare 2.0 comes with 3.  All the disks will have a disc.id file.  When opened with a simple text editor such as Notepad on a PC, it will show the label information, part #, license #, etc.  Match up the disk that all have the same license #.  If by chance that both system disk sets have the same part #, use the set that has the highest revision level, e.g. 3HAB2316-1/13 is revision 13.  My guess is that you will have (3) system boot disks, (2) IRB Elmo/Siemens disks and (1) Adv. Functions option disk.
When loading your software, select SERVICE when prompted at the Standard/Service Motion Parameters screen.  This will allow you to specify your 7th axis parameters.  Selecting STAND (Standard) will load just the IRB motion set.

Somar,
Your explanation is great, but it looks like your software is for an S4C (BaseWare 3.x) because it comes in a numbered disk pack, you have I/O Plus and there is a query mode to enter your 7th axis info.  I wish I took notes as thorough as you.  applaus

Hi
Is it possible for you to make a copy of your floppy's , as mine are defect, because of a broken floppy drive, and I have made the mistake not to make a backup.
