I have planned to buy IRB 1600 Robot.  The robot comes with standard IO configuration.  To increase the IO configuration, I have purchased Allen bradley devicenet IO modules.  It is working fine.

I want to understand whether phoneix contact devicenet io modules would also be suitable. What paramters should we consider for selection of devicenet IO modules for ABB robot

Our application is for press unloading.  I was just thinking how to snychronise the movement of robot along with the press.  Without buying DSQC 377 card & required software from ABB, is it not possibe to put devicenet analog Input module ?  Will this work? If not why?  Can anyone describe how to do a simple press synchronisation.  Our press is already equipped with linear encoder.

Any Device-net component will work, I think the best choice is based on support and spare parts availibility.
On the sync question is the press and the robot moving together or are you passing the end position to the robot?
